Learning foreign languages and
cultures is not a luxury, it is a necessity in a modern world ("The Future
of Language" by David Graddol, Science 27 February 2004; 303: 1329-1331).
It not only greatly enhances the quality of life and helps a developing brain to
realize its full potential, but it helps a person find his own voice in the
international arena of modern economics, politics and entertainment.
Our school is an educational, cultural, and social
institution. It does not discriminate on race, ethnic, national origin and
abilities. In a non-religious environment, we explore and preserve our Russian
identity by understanding our history and culture, by learning Russian language,
and by celebrating our traditions. There is also a school for kids (3-10 years)
"Madison Russian School for Children" at
Eagle Heights (Inna Reinfeldt) and a group for babies
(6-24 months) Natasha Rozhkovskaya.

Why do we need to learn
second language?
Five reasons for learning a
foreign language:
• Cognitive advantages – bilingual children tend to think more
creatively and flexibly because they have more than one word for every object
and concept.
• Educational advantages – research evidence from several countries
(Canada, the US, the Basque country, Catalonia and Wales) show that bilingual
children tend to do better in the curriculum and to show slightly higher
performance in examinations.
• Economic advantages – two languages offer a wider range of
employment opportunities; many jobs now require bilingual skills.
• Social and cultural advantages – speaking two languages leads to a
wider range of social activities and gives access to two cultures.
• Easier to learn a third language – there is growing evidence from
European research that bilingual children tend to find it easier to learn other
languages.

Our Mission
The
curriculum of the Russian School includes complete courses of Russian Language,
Literature for Russian children and for people with a limited knowledge of
Russian
(Russian as a second language class (RSL),
theater and chess classes. History, Geography and the Mathematics are in
the future.
The Russian Language course consists of three levels of education as follows:
beginning, intermediate and advanced. For those who enjoy performing we have a Theatre workshop. A considerable amount of homework is assigned.
Is Russian School: all work and no play? No way! We see our school as a
community, a place where students can learn, grow, meet friends, laugh and have
fun! This is why our students, parents and teachers put a great deal of effort
into organizing special events such as season parties, plays, field trips, etc.
Our children are always looking for new friends and their families. Come and
join us!
